I didn’t grow up dreaming of working in the church.
In fact, I had a pretty solid plan laid out for my life — and ministry wasn’t on the list. But in my freshman year of college, God began reshaping that vision. One unexpected door opened… and then another. Before I knew it, I was serving as an interim youth pastor at a small church — and I knew I’d found my purpose.
For the next two decades, I poured my life into student ministry. I earned two degrees in ministry for (BAS, MDiv), got married to Melanie (the love of my life), and committed myself to learning how to lead, connect, and inspire others. From mentoring and training to building ministries and speaking to thousands of students, I learned one thing that never stopped being true:
Jesus doesn’t just save us — He reframes everything.
A few years ago, God called our family into a new chapter. Today, I serve as the Lead Pastor of First Baptist Church in Castroville, Texas, where I have the privilege of leading a multi-generational church and helping people walk out their faith in the real world.

Whether I’m preaching on Sunday, writing a book, or mentoring future leaders through our church’s Residency Program, my heart stays the same: To help people see their story through the lens of the gospel — and discover how deeply they’re loved.
The Mission
Leading generations to reframe life in the image of Christ.
This mission guides everything I do — from sermons and books to conversations over coffee.
Behind the Scenes
At home, Melanie and I are raising two incredible young men who keep us laughing and always on the go. We love strong coffee, meaningful conversations, and discovering the best local Mexican food spots wherever we travel.
Our home is built on faith, hospitality, and a deep belief that the gospel really does change everything.
